Going on a ski vacation? 10 things you shouldn’t forget

  • Improve your general and specific physical fitness at least three months in advance. Combine your general fitness with specific fitness. General fitness – walking, climbing stairs, gym, etc.
  • Before you leave for your ski vacation, stock up on the right and optimal clothing for you, so that you feel comfortable in all weather conditions.
  • Plan your ski vacation with the help of an expert travel agent experienced in organizing ski vacations. Choose a ski resort that will suit you professionally in terms of the types of trails, the proximity of the lifts to the hotel, the accompanying services: sauna, après-ski jacuzzi, etc. (For more details click here ).
  • When receiving your boots and skis at the ski resort, make sure the boot hugs your foot and lower leg well. Make sure the connection between the boot and the ski (the binding) is adjusted according to your body weight and professional level.
  • The appropriate stick is the stick whose length is according to the distance between your palm and the ground, with your arm and shoulder at a 90-degree angle. Be sure and remember: Thread the loop of the cane strap from the bottom up, with the strap attached to the cane and inside the palm of your hand. If you fall, immediately let go of the cane. When you are in a surfing position, hold the poles “on their body” and without straps, including when waiting or using mobile facilities: chairs, lifts, etc.
  • During your ski vacation, remember that there is next year. Only join a group that is appropriate for your current level and physical and professional ability. Be a surfer, not a survivor, and you will increase your enjoyment of surfing and reduce the risk of injury (God forbid).
  • Warm-up exercises before skiing every day before putting on shoes, and warm-up exercises with shoes and skis – a must!!!
  • Recognize your body’s limitations and be attentive and alert to your body’s limitations. Take a break to rest during the third or fourth day of surfing and surf a little less. Injury statistics show an increased chance of injury due to the body’s “fatigue.”
  • Drink lots of water. Avoid excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages.
  • After a day of surfing, treat yourself to a hot tub, sauna or jacuzzi. Do a number of exercises to relax and loosen your muscles, a good massage will help, and of course, get a good night’s sleep. All of these will increase and refresh your strength and ability the next day.
