Rabbi Heshie BilletScholar in Residence – Since 1980, he has been the Rabbi of the Young Israel of Woodmere, one of the largest Orthodox Jewish synagogues in the United States. Previously, he served as President of the Rabbinical Council of America and on the board of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America.
Over the course of his career, Rabbi Billet has traveled extensively to Europe, Oceania, South America, and the Middle East to represent Jewish interests. He has been a scholar on many of those trips and has taught the relevant history of the Jews in those places.

 

Rabbanit Rookie Billet – Scholar in Residence – better known as Rookie, a respected educator in the modern Orthodox Jewish community.  Rookie has been a College teacher of sociology. She has served as Principal and Asst Principal at Girls Yeshiva High Schooks and Elementary schools. She is a Yoetztet Halacha and a respected lecturer on issues of interest to women and the broader Jewish Community

Ramblas Avenue

The Ramblas is a central avenue in Barcelona, one of the main tourist destinations of the city. It stretches for about 1.2 km, decorated with trees, between the Gothic quarter and the El Rabal neighborhood, and connects the Columbus monument, which is by the sea, to Catalonia square.
Ramblas Boulevard is full of shops of all kinds and species.

Montjuic, Mount of the Jews, has a beautiful view of the city of Barcelona.

Tarragona is a city in Catalonia in northeastern Spain, and the capital of Tarragona province. In 2013 there were 133,545 residents living in the city and Tarragona County had 810,178 inhabitants. Tarragona is an important port city on the Mediterranean coast.

The beautiful mountains of Montserrat with the meaning of “The Jagged Mountain” located in the center of Catalonia not far from Barcelona. The mountains are declared as a natural reserve and exist of a large number of hiking trails that reveal the traveler to a unique and alive vegetation. 

Port Aventura Park is a fun amusement park, with facilities suitable for all ages and extreme rollercoasters. The park has five different worlds, divided according to countries and continents. In each world you will find facilities, performances and attractions for the whole family.
The five worlds are: The Chinese world, Polynesia, Mexico, Far East, and the Mediterranean.
There are over 30 facilities, more than 100 performances per day.

Thursday 25/4/24 - Option A: Barcelona - Guel Park, Montjuic, the Jewish Quarter, the Synagogue and Rambles Avenue.

We will start the first day at Park Goel, a luxury neighborhood designed by the architect Antonio Gaudi, but its marketing failed and it has become a spectacular park filled with unique architecture. we will continue through Spain Square to the Mount of the Jews, Montjuic, for a view of the city. After a visit to the Olympic Stadium, we will take a motorized tour through Colon Square, Columbus Boulevard and the promenade, along the old port towards the Ciutadella Park and the Arc de Triomphe, We will listen to the stories and be moved by the masterpiece of the artist Antonio Gaudi. When entering the “Ishmael” quarter, we will look at Casa Batllo and Casa Mila on Passeu de Garcia street. We will continue our tour of the city itself and explore the ancient Gothic quarter of Barcelona, the Jewish Quarter and the Old Synagogue, and finish on the famous Ramblas Avenue.

Families, children or just young spirited adults, we will leave in the morning for an hour drive and will arrive to a special and fun amusement park, with facilities suitable for all ages and extreme rollercoasters. The park has five different worlds, divided according to countries and continents. In each world you will find facilities, performances and attractions for the whole family.

Tarragona, the ancient capital of the Tarragona Provincia, is now a bustling tourist town on the Mediterranean. We will stop at the observation point on the Devil’s Bridge, the ancient Roman aqueduct that in the Middle Ages served as a bridge over the valley. In the Old City we will visit the Roman ruins, the alleys and the squares. We will see the location of the ancient Jewish Quarter and visit the museum in the watch tower which also leads to the Circus Theater, where the popular horse races took place. We will end with a view of the Mediterranean Sea and the stadium where gladiator shows and animal hunts were presented during the Roman period.
From there we will continue to the shore, to the resort town of Cambrils, and board a boat in the port of the city and take an hour cruise along the coast to the bustling town of Slow.
